Practical Considerations
A Call-R 120 should not be connected in series with a Call-R100 as they are not directly compatible. Connecting speakers of different design or specification to the same amplifier channel will always result in uneven power being drawn by each speaker.
The Call-R120 uses drive units specified to have flat response throughout their frequency range. However the dynamic impedance is not flat, most amplifier load is drawn at low frequencies where the impedance is a nominal 6 ohms, at higher frequencies the speakers are much more efficient and have a higher impedance.
In contrast the Call-R100 had a lower dynamic impedance and also a non-linear frequency response, resulting in higher emphasis on vocal frequencies but also a higher amplifier loading.
Some PA amplifiers have substantial emphasis on vocal frequencies, this can result higher than rated power being delivered at these frequencies.
The Call-R120 tweeter and crossover design limits the potential for burn-out caused by overemphasis on high frequencies compared to the Call-R100.
Notes for new owners of Call-R Speakers
Please read these notes prior to use of your new speaker.
Protect your investment.
In order to produce the maximum sound from your amplifier the speaker impedance is quoted as 4 ohms, when using more than one speaker ensure the speakers are connected correctly to avoid damage to the amplifier.
The Call-R 120 is a wide range speaker and is capable of producing high frequencies of over 20 KHz. For this reason when first setting up your amplifier, the tone controls should be set FLAT.
Distortion
High frequency distortion is to be avoided to prevent tweeter burnout. It is often caused by low power amplifiers clipping or being fed with a distorted signal. Distortion is rarely caused by good quality CD or Mini-disc inputs but is more frequently found with MP3 files, especially from a low bit-rate source. 16 bit soundcards cannot reproduce sine waves in the upper frequency band used by modern tweeters.
Safety
For the comfort of dancers always ensure the speaker is used elevated at a height to project above the dancers heads.
The Call-R speaker you have just purchased has been designed for the specific purpose of projecting crystal clear voice reproduction whilst maintaining smooth musical qualities rarely found in a speaker of this size.
We hope you enjoy the new sound experienced when using your Call-R 120 and relax in the comfort of knowing your dancers are receiving your instructions more clearly than ever.
Thank you for purchasing your Call-R 120
